Pinnacle Homes

Steve Friedman

Founder of Pinnacle Homes, Steve Friedman focuses on the company’s future. But his experience plays an important role in Pinnacle’s success. Steve grew up in a construction family in Southfield, Michigan. In his late teens, he branched off from the family plumbing and heating business to build his first home in 1978. In the beginning, he was a one man show, from architect to salesperson, laborer to construction manager. He truly learned the business from the ground up and quickly developed a knack for it. Through the tough 20% interest rates of the early 1980s, Steve continued to build houses and buy new parcels of land, emerging from those tough times as a founding partner of the Selective Group. The Selective Group thrived through the 1990’s to become the 2nd largest homebuilder and developer in Metro Detroit. In 2000, Selective’s successful homebuilding business was purchased by Centex, one of the largest home building companies in the nation. In 25 years, Steve Friedman has built over 6,000 residential homes, developed almost 12,000 home sites and has been involved in the construction and/or ownership of more than 1.2 million square feet of commercial property. Given his extensive building and development experience, Steve has invaluable insight into what it takes to be successful in this industry. Steve’s bottom line: “We have to truly take care of our customers, during the build and after they close, to make them happy. When we do, our customers naturally refer us to their family and friends who are also looking to buy new homes. Referrals and repeat business are critical to the long-term growth of any successful company, and a building company is no different. Fortunately, making homebuyers happy is what we do best.”

Howard Fingeroot

Born and raised in metropolitan Detroit, Pinnacle Homes’ Managing Partner, Howard Fingeroot truly knows the marketplace here. After earning his BS & MBA from the University of Michigan, Howard spent nearly 10 years as President of Pulte Land Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Pulte Homes of Michigan operation. During his tenure, Howard managed the acquisition, entitlement and development of over 13,500 home sites in Southeast Michigan with a market value in excess of $1.1 billion. Now Howard utilizes his vast land acquisition experience to benefit Pinnacle Homes and our homebuyers. Not only does he have strong connections to local land owners, developers and banks, but he also has a keen understanding of what Michigan consumers want, where they want to live, what type of homes fit their needs, and what amenities are important to them. Knowing the market so well makes his job that much easier. In the end, he's able to procure the best parcels and develop them into the best communities for our homeowners.

John DePorre

President John DePorre oversees Pinnacle Homes’ land entitlement and development as well as all the day-to-day operations of selling, building and servicing homes for our customers. With over 20 years of experience in the residential homebuilding industry, he is well suited for the task. John earned his BS in Building Construction Management from Michigan State University in 1985. Afterward, he spent 9 years at Detroit-based Holtzman and Silverman Companies where he worked his way through many levels of the company: from Laborer to Superintendent to Project Manager to Land Developer and finally Director of Purchasing. From there, John served as Vice President of Operations and Director of Construction at Pulte Homes of Michigan from 1994 to 2004. Under his direction, the home building company thrived, growing from 400 home closings per year to more than 1,400. In every arena, John has always led his teams to greater heights, continuously raising the bar in terms of production, quality & customer service. Now his leadership at Pinnacle drives a company-wide recognition of the importance of “Building someone’s dream.” According to John, that’s why we’ve assembled “Teams of expert craftsmen to construct our homes and have incorporated strict quality control measurements into our daily routines. We focus on ‘doing it right the first time’ so we build our customers what they deserve—the utmost quality Pinnacle home.”

Energy StarPinnacle Homes is proud to offer new homes that have earned the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are substantially more energy efficient than homes built to the minimum code requirements. Our ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are independently verified by a third-party Home Energy Rater to ensure they meet ENERGY STAR energy efficiency guidelines. These homes are better for the environment and better for you.

Features of our ENERGY STAR qualified new homes include:
Effective Insulation - Properly installed insulation that meets or exceeds national code requirements helps achieve even temperatures throughout the house while using less energy. The result is lower utility costs and a quieter, more comfortable home.

High-Performance Windows - Advanced window coatings help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. They also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furniture. Tight Construction and Tight Ducts - Attention to detail by sealing all holes, cracks, and seams in ducts and construction assemblies helps eliminate drafts, moisture, dust, pests, and pollen. This improves comfort and the quality of indoor air, while lowering maintenance costs.

Energy-Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment - More efficient and properly sized heating and cooling systems use less energy, which reduces utility bills. These systems also turn on and off less frequently, removing more humidity and providing better comfort.
